Northolt Eagles under 11’s won the Yeading tournament on Saturday afternoon.
We had two teams in the age group Reds & Whites.
Jason Town managed the red team and got them playing some great stuff
Joe Bonds took charge of the whites and led them all the way.
The Eagles reds won 4 league games and drew 1, having played some of the best football I have seen from a group of players of that age, they cruised to the top of the table.
The Whites won 3 league games and lost 2, they finished runners up in the league which meant our two teams had to face each other in the ¼ finals.
The ¼ final was always going to be hard as they are all mates, especially for the whites as the reds were playing very well, how wrong I was! The whites came out of the blocks like a steam train and scored in the first minute or so, to be honest they could have been a “couple up” but for Ben Frailing in goal.
Daniel Anderson and Tylah Collister were causing all sorts of problems for the reds and before long it was 2-0.
2nd half the reds stepped up a gear making Hugh Beasley produce some fine saves, the reds did get one back but overall I think our white team pipped them with pure desire and spirited defending.
Game finished 2-1 to whites and all the boys were very sporting.
Me I just watched with pride/pleasure especially as the whites beat St Josephs in the semi’s and Hounslow Colts in the final both on penalties.
I would like to thank everyone, both team’s parents and players who stayed to cheer the whites on, making it an unbelievable atmosphere, when the final penalty went in from Kai Milne all the red & white team were running on the pitch jumping up and down, there was cuddling, tears of joy from the players and parents, it was fantastic.
I feel we represented Northolt Eagles with pride.
