Eagles win, with second half lesson for Hillingdon
By Les Blaxall.

Today’s visitors were Hillingdon Youth, a solid team who seem to be masters at defending in their own half.

The game started with the teams on an equal par, both intent on getting the early goal.

But it was Hillingdon that opened the score line within the first 10 mins, when our defenders seemed to freeze in front of the oncoming Hillingdon attack, 0-1 to the visitors, within a further 5 mins another, again our guys really not at the races.

JP who worked hard at the Eagles spearhead, spanked one past their keeper shortly after and saved our blushes for 1-2.

Our guys played by far the more attacking football but couldn't level things going into the break.

At half time all of our players seemed unfazed by the score line, and seemed confident of pulling things around.

In the second period the score line seemed to stay at 1-2 for an eternity, until Darren ran up and headed in “bullet style” for 2-2. From here on we had virtually all of the possession with the away side only coming into our half on the odd occasion, but we just couldn't seem to get the ball into the net.

Daniel kept us "in it" with a good save to his left, after a rare Hillingdon chance.

It needed something special to secure the win, so up stepped none other than Jack to fire in from about 20 yards for 3-2, a big sigh of relief all round.

Man of the match; Darren for his brilliant display at centre half, he and Conor were very strong especially in the second half.

Players worth mentioning; Conor Foley's skills and delivery, Ricky Blaxall at centre midfield had a good 1st half, JP ran his heart out and gave the Hillingdon “back four” a game to remember and Jamie Bear for a very controlled & focussed display.

Coaches say; Les and Elliot will work with the guys to build on our good start to the season, we are capable of promotion, but we need to step things up as we will face some tougher games, See you ALL on tuesday 7:00 till 8:15..............ALL OF YOU!
